Have questions?
At our Edmonton medical spa, we offer a wide range of beauty treatments, including Botox and facials to keep you looking healthy and vibrant. However, during this difficult time when you may have to forego such treatments temporarily, there are some steps you can take at home to care for your skin and keep the wrinkles at bay.
These include:
1. Staying hydrated. Drinking an adequate amount of water throughout the day can keep your skin looking healthy and youthful. Not drinking enough can result in an increased appearance of wrinkles and lines, and it may make your skin dry and dull. By ensuring you drink at least 2 litres of water, you can keep a healthy and dewy appearance.
2. Get enough sleep. Sleep is one of the most important physiological processes, and while you are sleeping, your body is detoxifying and repairing your skin. Adequate sleep also improves circulation around the eyes, decreasing puffiness and dryness.
3. Be careful about sun exposure. While it’s important to get out in the fresh air during this time of social distancing, you must take precautions when outside. Overexposure to the sun has been shown to age the skin faster and even increase the risk of skin cancer. So make sure to wear sunscreen, a hat, and protective clothing.
4. Wash your face after a workout. Washing your face post workout can help keep dead skin and other grime from settling into your pores, making them look larger, which is a sure sign of aging. Make sure to wash your face twice daily, especially after sweating heavily following a workout.
5. Quit smoking. It probably comes as no surprise that smoking is bad for your health, but you may not realize what a major impact it can have on your appearance. Tobacco can have a profound effect on your skin as nicotine starves your cells of oxygen and nutrition.
6. Increase your antioxidant intake. Adding antioxidants to your diet, through fresh fruits and vegetables, or supplements, can make your skin healthier and more resilient, having you look younger in no time.
