Salon Etiquette 101: How to Behave During Your Nail Care Appointment

A visit to the nail salon can be a much-welcomed luxury during a busy or stress-filled week. However, to make the experience more enjoyable for you, your nail technician, and fellow customers, here are some salon dos and don’ts:

Nail Salon Dos

  • Make an appointment beforehand. This will save you and your nail technician from a rush and make your treatment more relaxing. You can do this through the phone, email, or booking online.
  • Arrive at least ten minutes early. This will give you enough time to get ready for the treatment, including picking out your nail colours.
  • Cancel your appointment if you can’t attend. This will ensure that the salon can give your slot to another waiting customer, so try to cancel your appointment at least 24 hours in advance.
  • Tip your nail technician. As with any service you receive, it’s important to tip your nail technician for the care and attention they give.
  • Watch your phone use. You should try not to answer any phone calls during your treatment. If you must pick up a call, keep it brief and speak in a low volume.
  • Return any robes or slippers. These things are given to you only for a loan and you don’t want to accidentally carry them home.

Nail Salon Don’ts

  • Don’t bring any food or beverages to your appointment. This will not only make it harder for your nail technician but also increases your chances of dirtying the salon.
  • Don’t be rude. If you aren’t happy with your results for any reason, don’t lose your calm. Talk to the manager and inform them of the situation.
  • Don’t forget to cancel your appointment. Not only may you be charged for your appointment if you don’t cancel, but it can also cause a lot of inconvenience to the salon.
  • Don’t take up too much space. If you come to the salon with your purse or other bags, make sure they don’t take up a lot of room or make it difficult for other people to sit down.
  • Don’t show up late. Always try to be mindful of your nail technician’s time. Also, if you show up more than fifteen minutes late, the salon might have got another customer to take your place.

I came in to enquire about some skin imperfections and botox etc. The staff was especially sensitive to what I needed and complimented what I already had. I hope the staff excel in the areas of dematology/age tolerations in their career. They are a must with this area of beauty. Thanks for all of the valuable information.
